Shawn Stussy founded the brand in the early 1980s in Laguna Beach, California. At the beginning, he was known as manufacturer of surfboards, then he started selling his logo t-shirts from his car. At the beginning of the 1990s, the brand became incredibly popular; the early success of the brand has been attributed to its popularity in the hip hop and skater/surfer scenes. The iconic signature of the brand was the signature of Shawn Stussys’ uncle, that is today the most recogniseble symbol of the brand.

MUST HAVE FROM THE BRAND:

One of the biggest revolutions made by Shawn Stussy has been taking the brand Chanel, and make a whole new t-shirt replacing the iconic Chanel signature with double C, with the double S one. He created a whole new mode of t-shirt design. Without it, there would be no DHL by Vetements, no Gosha-does-Hilfiger, and no Palace spin on the Versace Medusa head.
